The Studio Program of De
Anzas Art Department emphasizes the teaching of strong
technical skills and nurtures each individuals originality,
creativity, and artistic development.
It offers programs designed to train future artists
as well as individuals who want to improve their intuitive and
aesthetic skills. Areas of study include various levels and forms
of drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and graphic design/interactive
design. Faculty members in the Art Department are practicing professionals
whose work reflects a dedication to the development of creative
and conceptual styles and abilities.
The program serves a broad range of students who
wish to build on a firm foundation of fundamentals, theory, practice,
and history. Traditional approaches to study are complemented by
training in the use of current technologies. Interdisciplinary
study also is encouraged. Each spring, students of the Studio Program
show their work at the Annual Student Art Show at the Euphrat Museum
of Art on the De Anza campus.
The Art History Program offers courses which meet
general education requirements and are transferable to major art
history programs at other colleges and universities.
