De Anza Colleges Film/Television
Department is the largest, most successful department of its
kind in the California community college system. More than 1,000
students are enrolled each quarter in 27 course offerings in
the disciplines of film and video remote, studio production,
screenwriting, animation, and media studies.
Housed in De Anzas Advanced Technology Center
and a part of the Creative Arts Division, the Film/Television Department
offers a comprehensive curriculum taught by an experienced, dedicated
faculty. Courses are designed for students seeking career paths
in some aspect of film and/or television. Students prepare to enter
the cinema, film, video, animation, and entertainment professions
by learning fundamental concepts gained through hands-on experience.
They use a wide variety of film, video, and electronic equipment
in the context of the historical production tradition and aesthetic
foundations of world entertainment media.
It is not unusual for De Anza students to launch
successful careers in film and television and to receive numerous
awards for their creativity. De Anza students have won more Student
Academy Awards, Emmy Awards, and Focus Awards than students at
any other two-year school in the nation.
